Lip Blush

How Long Does This Last?

The results to vary from person to person include health and lifestyle factors, such as smoking, sun exposure, iron deficiency, oiliness and exfoliation, all of which could speed up the fading process. On average, Lip Blush fades away within 2-3 years, with most people wanting a touch up every 12-18 months, depending on how bold you want your lips to look.

Who Is Not An Ideal Candidate?

  • You are under 18.
  • You are pregnant or nursing.
  • Have been on Accutane within the past year.
  • Have HIV or Hepatitis or any other infectious or viral diseases.
  • Undergoing Chemotherapy.
  • You are Epileptic.
  • You are taking medications that may affect how your skin responds to blood clotting and healing.
  • You develop infections easily.
  • If your previous tattoo is too dark or thick

Is It Painful?

Pain levels vary from person to person. Strong medical-grade topical anaesthetic cream is used before and during your procedure to keep you as pain-free as possible.

However, clients who have taken blood thinners and coffee will be extra sensitive. Caffeine and blood thinners can combat against numbing and make your lips more sensitive to the tattoo.

Clients who also have scars on their lips from cold sores, sun damage etc. are also extremely sensitive. The procedure can be slightly uncomfortable at times but completely bearable.

Lip Blush Pre-Care

  • As a necessary precaution, we require all of our Aquarelle Lip clients who are prone to cold sores to take an anti-viral medication such as Zovirax starting 5 days before the appointment and must continue to take it until the healing process has completed. To obtain a prescription, please contact a doctor or dentist. There are absolutely NO exceptions to this rule! This rule applies for every time you have a lip tattoo or individuals who had any form of cold sore/blister once or more in their lifetime
  • The procedure will not proceed during an outbreak of cold sores.
  • 2 months before the scheduled appointment date. No antibiotics are to be taken.
  • 1 month before the scheduled appointment date. No filler or injections.
  • 48 – 72 hours Before the scheduled appointment date. Avoid ALL Blood thinners; Aspirin, ibuprofen, caffeine, coffee, tea, smoking, alcohol, soda, Niacin, vitamin E, Advil, Fish Oil etc
  • Extra strength Tylenol can be taken if you have low pain tolerance.
  • Menstrual Cycle. Your client may be more sensitive during their cycle due to increased hormones in their body.
  • Skin Conditions, if you have any skin conditions, you are required to have a letter from your doctor saying it is okay to proceed with lip blushing.
  • Exfoliate your lips twice a week. We recommend using sugar and honey as a natural exfoliant.
  • Please make sure your lips are hydrated by using lip balm every day at least one month prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid exercising the day of the procedure.

Failure to follow Pre-Care instructions may affect the outcome of your final results.

What Is Lip Blush?

Lip blush is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip colour, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness.

Traditional permanent makeup uses a strong machine, synthetic pigments, and is embedded deep in the dermis. The permanent makeup of today is very different—we use organic pigments and modern, digital tools.

The Lip blush technique was created in Europe and is a modern form of tattooing colour on to your lips that is sheer, and nothing like the “lipstick” look of past years. Think of it as your lip colour, but subtly enhanced. Your lips will have a fresh, healthier appearance. This technique involves creating a very soft and subtle outline of your lips with a lip colour that best suits your skin colouring and desired look. This soft line is then blended and shaded when filling in your lips with the pigment. By doing this, we are avoiding the “lined lip” look, and therefore creating the illusion of fuller, natural-looking lips.
